Short Films, “Documassimo” Wins Massimo Troisi Award for Schools

Triumph for the De Nicola-Sasso Comprehensive Institute of Torre del Greco and for the NWM Network – SocialStation.it, who with the short film “Documassimo” won the Massimo Troisi Award – Best School Short Film , as part of the 25th edition of the historic festival dedicated to the unforgettable Neapolitan artist.
The short film was born within the national project “Per Chi Crea” , promoted by SIAE and the Ministry of Culture, thanks to the support of the Campania Region with the initiative “Una Scuola al Massimo” , which involved students in a journey of discovery of their own uniqueness through the poetics of Massimo Troisi.
Guiding the kids in this experience was Domenico Di Frenna for NWM Network and SocialStation.it, who oversaw the creation of three original, profound short films inspired by the themes of empathy, memory and identity.
“Troisi is not told, he is felt,” explained Di Frenna. “For me, he was a beacon. I was too young to understand his greatness at the time, but as I grew up I found in him everything I love about Neapolitanness: the grace, the poetry and the genius of someone who grows up in a complex territory and knows how to find his strength in his own uniqueness. This is what he passed on to me: a great faith in ourselves.”
The highlight of the project was the final event at the Cinema Corallo in Torre del Greco, with the screening of the works and the extraordinary participation of Alfredo Cozzolino , a close friend of Troisi, and Gerardo Ferrara, stuntman in Il Postino , who moved those present with their testimonies, recalling the human and cultural impact left by the actor.
The Municipality of San Giorgio a Cremano, which has always organized, hosted and supported the Award, confirms itself as a point of reference in the promotion of Troisi's memory, offering schools in the area a concrete space for creative expression.
“A significant award that makes us proud – underlines the school principal Alessandra Tallarico – that recognizes the value of a choral and participatory work, capable of bringing the youngest closer to art, cinema and culture, in the indelible mark left by Massimo Troisi. A language still capable of speaking to hearts, of generating beauty and inspiring new generations”.
